MRT - Magnetic Resonance Testing

MRT is a sophisticated electromagnetic inspection method used to evaluate the structural integrity of ferromagnetic components, most notably steel wire ropes and tubes. The process involves saturating a section of the material with a powerful magnetic field. Sensors then detect Magnetic Flux Leakage (MFL) or variations in magnetic flux density caused by internal or external discontinuities, such as broken wires, corrosion, or wall thinning.

Key Engineering Metrics

  • LMA (Loss of Metallic Area): Quantifies overall cross-sectional reduction due to corrosion or wear.

  • LF (Local Fault): Pinpoints discrete defects like individual wire fractures or pits.
