Modulus of Elasticity
In structural tubing, Young's Modulus (E) dictates a tube's resistance to buckling when subjected to compressive loads (like a pillar or strut). We calculate the critical buckling load (P_cr) using Euler's Column Formula:

Here, I is the Area Moment of Inertia (which is highly favorable for tubular shapes). Because the Modulus of Elasticity (E) for steel remains constant regardless of its heat treatment, a mild steel tube will buckle under the exact same compressive load as a high-strength alloy tube of the same dimensions.
