Glossary
Zinc is naturally "greasy" and chemically non-reactive, making it difficult for paint to stick. Phosphating is a conversion coating process where the galvanized tube is bathed in a phosphoric acid solution. This creates a crystalline layer of zinc phosphate that acts as a microscopic "anchor" for topcoats, powder coatings, or clear polymers.
