Camber

Camber is the deviation of the side edge of a steel strip from a straight line. Imagine a long ribbon of steel laid flat, if it curves to one side like a banana, it has camber. This is usually caused by uneven cooling on the runout table or uneven pressure in the roll bite. Excessive camber is a nightmare for a slitter operator, as it leads to "telescoping" coils and uneven mults.
