Yield - Tube & Pipe
In manufacturing economics, Yield is the percentage of raw material (steel coil) that successfully becomes finished, sellable pipe.
The Math: If you start with 100 tons of steel and produce 94 tons of good pipe, your yield is 94%.
Losses: The other 6 tons are lost to "scrap"—end cuts, seam defects, setup waste.
Goal: High-efficiency mills strive for yields above 96-97% to maximize profit and reduce waste.
