Viscosity

Viscosity is defined as a fluid's internal resistance to flow. Think of it as "fluid friction." In a manufacturing plant, selecting the correct viscosity for hydraulic oils and lubricants is a balancing act:

• High Viscosity: Provides a thick protective film but generates heat and resists movement.

• Low Viscosity: Flows easily into tight gaps but may fail to prevent metal-to-metal contact under heavy loads.
