Ultimate Tensile Strength (UTS)

The UTS is the maximum stress that a material can withstand while being stretched or pulled before necking occurs. On an engineering stress-strain curve, this is the highest point. Beyond this point, the material’s cross-sectional area decreases rapidly, leading to fracture. For industrial applications, the UTS is the "red line" the absolute limit of the material's load-bearing capacity.
