Tempering

The welding process creates a "Heat Affected Zone" (HAZ) that is naturally harder and more brittle than the rest of the tube. Tempering is a post-weld heat treatment that restores toughness. By reheating the weld area to a specific temperature, the internal stresses are relieved, ensuring the tube can be crushed or bent without the seam splitting.
