Fracture

Written by Superior Technologies | 2026.03.13

This represents the point of no return. We distinguish between ductile fracture, which is preceded by "necking" or stretching (ideal for safety-critical structures), and brittle fracture, which occurs instantly. In tube manufacturing, a brittle fracture often points to an issue with the weld cooling rate or an impurity in the steel alloy.
